 nd Alcohol Exposed Infants and Children</p>\n<p>Presented by: Judith Lefle
 r\, Public Health Nurse\, RN\, PHN\, CLNC</p>\n\n<p>This three-hour module
  will train professionals on the care of Drug and Alcohol Exposed Infants.
  Trainees will learn about the effects of stimulants\, opiates and alcohol
  and how each affects a child differently\, both long and short term. Part
 icipants will learn about interventions and will be able to apply them thr
 ough the use of scenarios. A good portion of this training will also focus
  on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder\, how to identify and strategies for i
 ntervention.</p>\n\n<p>Ms. Lefler\, who retired in June of 2015\, was the 
 Assistant Director of the Bay Area Academy from 2002 to 2015. Prior to tha
 t\, she was a supervising Public Health Nurse in San Francisco child welfa
 re. Ms. Lefler has been consulting and training for over 40 years. She spe
 cializes in Child Maltreatment\, drug and alcohol exposed infants\, infant
  mental health\, trauma\, teaming and interdisciplinary practice. She is a
 lso certified as a Legal Nurse Consultant and has served as a medical guar
 dian ad litem for Solano County Superior Court. Ms. Lefler has been an act
 ive participant in many statewide committees including but not limited to:
  CSEC\, California Practice Model\, CORE 3.0\, Fostering Connections\, Bay
  Area Regional Children’s Committee and the Child Welfare Directors Associ
 ation.  After her retirement\, she has continued to train for the Bay Area
  Academy. </p>
