 This presentation will provide a high level overview of postpartum depress
 ion disease state\, its prevalence\, its burden and risk/protective factor
 s.\n\n<h5>Integration of Infant Mental Health in the Neonatal Intensive Ca
 re Unit</h5>\nGloria Castro\, Psy. D\nThe integration of infant mental hea
 lth in the NICU can address issues that affect developmental and attachmen
 t outcomes.  The goals of clinical intervention are to decrease parents’ l
 evel of stress and enhance maternal/paternal reflective functioning.  Prov
 iding support in the interactions between families and staff will be discu
 ssed.\n\n<hr /><h4>Session 2 | 9:30am - 12:00pm</h4>\n<b>Training for Ment
 al Health and other Clinical Providers\, Lunch Provided</b>\n\n<h5>Integra
 tion of Infant Mental Health in a Hospital Setting During the Perinatal Pe
 riod</h5> \nGloria Castro\, Psy. D\nThe perinatal period\, as a developmen
 tal crisis\, requires an internal reorganization. Dr. Castro will discuss 
 clinical interventions to address the understanding of parents over the se
 quence of trimesters including the “imaginary baby”\, the “symbolic baby”\
 , and the “real baby.” Clinical cases will illustrate the integration of i
 nfant mental health in outpatient clinics as well as in the inpatient unit
 s.\n\n<hr /><h4>About our Speakers</h4>\n\n<h5>Samuel Sakhai</h5>\nPh.D.\,
 Medical Science Liaison for Sage Therapeutics\n\nSamuel Sakhai received hi
 s PhD from UC Berkeley in Behavioral Neuroscience and completed a Postdoct
 oral Fellowship at UCSF in Molecular Neuroscience. He is a neuroscientist 
 by training with a focus on the biological basis of addiction\, as well as
  the impact of early life factors on the shaping of the neurobiology and b
 ehavior of newborns. He transitioned to medical affairs in 2018 where he c
 overs a therapeutic compound for the treatment of postpartum depression. H
 e is a member of the West Region MSLs.\n\n<h5>Gloria Castro\, Psy. D</h5>
 \nUCSF/Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Child Trauma Research Pro
 gram\n\nGloria Castro is a licensed Psychologist with extensive experience
  in providing assessments and psychotherapy to pregnant women with a histo
 ry of traumatic experiences throughout pregnancy\, labor and delivery\, an
 d postpartum. She is currently working at the Child Trauma Research Progra
 m on the adaptation of Child-Parent Psychotherapy during the perinatal per
 iod and provides infant mental health services to families and newborns at
  the NICU and at the High Risk Pediatric Kempe clinic at ZSFGH.
