X-WR-CALDESC:Presented by: Carolina Taylor & Mark Taylor\n\nPoverty\, viole
nce\, forceful gang recruitment\, and lack of opportunities are some of th
e reasons why children begin their immigration journey to the US. Some chi
ldren walk over 1\,500 miles while others hide in ships or airplanes\, or
even ride on the tops of trains.\n\nAll of them are on the quest for the i
dyllic American dream they know from watching movies or television\, or pe
rhaps from hearing stories of success from relatives or neighbors. The jou
rney lasts weeks\, sometimes months. During this time\, the children are o
n their own. They survive by sleeping on the streets surrounded by strange
rs with whom they are traveling.\n\nUnaccompanied Children Placed in Foste
r Care will examine the individual and social impact of the effects of imm
igrating to the US as a child. How are we are addressing this situation?
\n\nJoin us and help raise awareness to this important topic while setting
yourself on the course of action to implement positive change as a foster
parent.\n\nLight brunch and childcare will be provided. If you do require
childcare\, please arrive 30 minutes early for check-in.\nBrunch will beg
in at 9:30am\, and training will begin at 10am.
