Poverty, violence, forceful gang recruitment, and lack of opportunities are some of the reasons why children begin their immigration journey to the US. Some children walk over 1,500 miles while others hide in ships or airplanes, or even ride on the tops of trains.

All of them are on the quest for the idyllic American dream they know from watching movies or television, or perhaps from hearing stories of success from relatives or neighbors. The journey lasts weeks, sometimes months. During this time, the children are on their own. They survive by sleeping on the streets surrounded by strangers with whom they are traveling.

Unaccompanied Children Placed in Foster Care will examine the individual and social impact of the effects of immigrating to the US as a child. How are we are addressing this situation?

Join us and help raise awareness to this important topic while setting yourself on the course of action to implement positive change as a foster parent.

Light brunch and childcare will be provided. If you do require childcare, please arrive 30 minutes early for check-in.
Brunch will begin at 9:30am, and training will begin at 10am.
